SUSSEX MEN'S SCORING & RESULTS RULES

  • SX-MR.1a - As of 2022 ALL matches are to be scored using the Play-Cricket scoring app DURING the match, which can be accessed here:
ANDROID
IOS (APPLE)
  • SX-MR.1b - Teams are responsible for ensuring that they have at least one member of their team who has access to one of the above apps and is familiar with how to utilise it so as not to cause unnecessary delay to the match. Both apps contain links to instructions.

  • SX-MR.1c - It is NOT a requirement to score live (although it is preferable), the app has the functionality to score offline thereby not requiring internet access, however all details of the match should be uploaded as soon as possible after the completion of the match and no later than 24 hours after the commencement of the match.

  • SX-MR.1d - Wherever possible a representative of both teams should conduct scoring at the same time AND alongside each other to ensure agreement, however only one party can undertake this live on the PlayCricket app and it should be mutually agreed before the commencement of the match which party shall undertake this. Where both parties cannot undertake scoring across both innings then whichever team CAN score for the whole match should be take precendence when it comes to recording the game on PlayCricket.
All participating teams should have their own Slam-specific team for each competition they are entered into on their parent club's PlayCricket site to enable ease of finding data for all concerned.

ALL matches shall be posted on theslam.play-cricket.com and ALL teams are responsible for ensuring that the data associated with each of their fixtures is recorded accurately.
  • SX-MR.2a - Where the totals for each completed innings are equal, the side that has lost the fewest wickets at the end of their innings will be victorious. If this figure is also equal then the fixture will be regarded as a tie in the group stages.

  • SX-MR.2b - In the knockout stages of both The Men's Cup and The Men's Plate (other than at Finals' Day) the winning team shall be declared by whichever of the following produces a winner, in this order:
  • Whichever team has scored the most runs during their innings;
  • Whichever team has lost the least wickets during their innings;
  • Whichever team has scored the most number of boundaries (fours and sixes combined) throughout the match;
  • Whichever team has bowled the least number of illegal delivers (wides and no balls combined) throughout the match.
In the event that all of the above does not produce a winner then the Competition Manager should be contacted ASAP and the match shall be replayed at the earliest opportunity. Where possible this will be at the ground of the team that was away for the first match.
  • SX-MR.3a - In the event of a win the victorious side will receive 2 points and the defeated side 0 in the group stages or advance to the next round in the knockout stages.
  • SX-MR.3b - In the event of a tie, no result or an abandonment where both sides have not bowled at least 5 completed overs each, then each side will receive 1 point in the group stages.
  • SX-MR.3c - In the event of a team not participating in a fixture when scheduled and all other conditions enable the match to be played, then that team will concede the match and any points on offer, or the right to progress in the knock-out stages, to their opponent (who will be awarded 2 points). Where this occurs in any group stage match then the culpable team will also incur a 1 point deduction to their group stage points as well as a 1.00 reduction in their net run rate for that group stage.
In the interests of 'Getting The Game On', the non-cancelling side MAY offer to play the match on the pre-agreed reserve date or an alternate date instead, but they are not compelled to and are at liberty to accept the points awarded for a cancellation.

If, however, the non-cancelling team DOES offer the opportunity to play on an alternative date and that second date is curtailed by weather then the points will be awarded on the basis of the initial cancellation.
  • SX-MR.4 - In the event of poor weather reducing play but NOT enough to prevent both sides bowling 5 complete overs, the result of the match shall be calculated via the Duckworth/Lewis method which can be accessed easily through the Play-Cricket scoring app, which is already being used to score the match as per SX-MR.1.
  • SX-MR.5a - For the purposes of managing evening matches where a delay occurs in the first innings of a match (and the light is fair) it should be assumed that a full innings takes 70 minutes to complete, and a full match takes 150 minutes, when calculating how many more overs of the match can be completed.

  • SX-MR.5b - For daytime matches where end time is not a pressing factor then rather than invoking SY-MR.4 teams may elect to wait as long as mutually agreeable to fit in as many overs as possible,
