ABOUT
The Slam is a different brand of recreational, short-form cricket played across your county.
"I love the game, but with family and work it just isn't feasible for me to commit regularly to traditional weekend cricket"
The above statement is nothing new and widely spread across the recreational cricket community. For those with families or whose working patterns aren't 9-5, Monday to Friday, its no longer as simple to fit cricket into the week. Retention of young players is also an issue, with plenty of other activities and attractions competing for the intentions of the game's teenagers, more and more are dropping away from the longer format.
The Slam was set up to offer something different to help players stay, get back or get into cricket by offering a format that fits into their busy lives and removes the often awkward barrier of contacting teams that fit their playing and geographical needs for them.
For Clubs & Teams, The Slam offers a way of retaining those existing members that are struggling to meet the commitments expected of a weekend player AND it utilises targeted social media to find them new players every Spring, just in time for the season.
Since its launch across Surrey in 2018 as a single-tier men's competition, The Slam expanded into Susses in 2020 and last year offered 6 competitions across the two counties providing for both men and women. In that time The Slam has helped over 2,000 players into cricket that weren't playing in the year before and we are delighted that we will be able to expand that work in Hampshire in 2022.
