THE HOTBED OF THE SLAM |

The Slam expanded beyond Surrey for the first time in 2020 with the launch of (not surprisingly) much-truncated Men's and Women's competitions in Sussex.
Since that chaotic year, midweek short-format cricket has exploded right across the county. There are now THREE tiers of Men's competition and two tiers of Women's, with the newest Shield competition providing a meaningful entry point into hard ball cricket, particularly for the multitude of highly active soft ball teams.
Across those multitude of competitions there were a record 124 Men's and 26 Women's teams playing Slam cricket in 2025
